Elvis the Black Labrador

Hi, My name is Elvis. I am a Labrador Retriever aged about 4 years and I weigh about 35 kilos (80 lbs) so I’m quite big for a Labrador.

I have been with my family since I was 9 weeks old. For nearly 4 years I did exactly as I pleased – pulled and barked on the lead when out for walks; went after every dog I saw and did not come when called. At home I ruled the roost. In the kitchen I would sit wherever Dad wanted to stand; I pushed first through doorways and jumped up at visitors. Such fun! However I would always sit for my food and never stole anything so I could be good.

Then I met Sally Barnes. How life has changed. I began to learn who was boss and I am no longer in charge. I will now walk to heel on or off the lead; most of the time anyone can take me for a walk. I am getting better at coming when I am called and at leaving other dogs alone. At home I have my own bed in the corner of the kitchen where I go and sit when everyone is busy.

There is still work to be done however life is more peaceful and I am more contented.
