Jake and Bo the Border Terriers

Thank goodness for Sally.

Walking our Border Terriers Jake and Bo had become a real problem, most of the local dog walkers avoided us and my daughter refused point blank to take them out. Bo could not come off the lead as he would pick up a scent and run away, because of this he was walked on an extendable lead. This meant if we did meet dogs it was even harder  to control him because you had to try and real him back in.

I found Sally by complete accident and was attracted by the words ‘Dog Whisperer’. I had already booked a session with my 3rd dog trainer but doubts had crept into my head when the dog trainer had given me a list of equipment I needed to buy before I went, Halti headcollar, muzzle and training lead. I was slightly confused as to how she knew I needed these things having not even met my dogs. 

This had made me do some more internet searching and I came across Sally. I am a huge fan of Cesar Milan and Sally seemed to follow some of his principles. I sent her an email and then we had a telephone conversation, I instantly felt that Sally and I were on the same page and booked a session with her.

After trying 2 dog trainers due to dog aggression problems with our Border Terriers we had made very little progress and I was left feeling frustrated and helpless. We had tried clicker training and feeding endless treats but this just was not enough to distract Bo when we came upon another dog whilst out walking. The noises he made were horrendous and it became very stressful to go for a walk. The basics were never tackled by the other dog trainers and this was the difference with Sally. 

Immediately she had us take back control of our house and be the pack leaders, by talking to us about the basic rules in the home we could see why the dogs did not trust or follow us.

Sally met with the whole family so we could work together to make the changes, these changes have already been huge. Bo is a much more balanced and happy dog, we are still working on the dog aggression but it is much better. Sally is going to come back to help us with walking and the aggression to other dogs and then to get Bo off the lead.

We can’t wait.
