Progress on The Collie Pack

Sally has been a regular visitor to our home over the last few months.

The dogs recognised a pack leader when they saw one were model citizens for her practically from the outset.  She works them hard though and they seem to like the challenge. But don’t let the thought of yourself as less than Alpha get you down. The big change in recent weeks is that our pooches seem to have suddenly latched onto the idea that ‘we’ not ‘they’ are in charge. Of course, this has given both sides, dogs and humans, new confidence and interest in  the journey. And we, the humans, are making sure we don’t blow it by politely correcting and praising each other, to ensure we are working with our four legged friends in a consistent way. The more you watch Sally and the more you do this dog training thing, the more you realise it is mostly about us, not about them.
