3 years ago my partner and I got our handsome little Patterdale (Olly) from a rescue centre and couldn’t wait to get him home. Within a matter of days our excitement had turned to confusion and frustration, as his behaviour had turned aggressive. He couldn’t walk past people, dogs or bikes without completely losing his rag. Then slowly he started becoming aggressive with us, challenging us and trying to bite our feet. There were times when we were genuinely scared of this little 9kg thing. His problems didn’t stop there, he went ballistic at people coming into the house, walking past the house, ripping up post, trying to bite dogs, running off, you name it. He was confined to a life of walks on a lead with a muzzle at all times.
Enough was enough, we had to get the professionals in. But 3 ‘dog behaviourists’ (yes 3) later and his behaviour was virtually no better. Then one day he bit someone's face causing them to need stitches. I guess we knew it was going to happen one day but we were at the end of our tether trying to find help. In walks Sally! I cannot tell you how stressful, challenging, and worrying the past 3 years with this little dog have been, but Sally has *totally* changed things for us and most of all, for him. It’s hard work and we realised that most of his problems stemmed from our behaviour and energy, but if you’re serious about rehabilitating your dog then its completely worth it. Her techniques make total sense and her guidance is clear. Olly is now walking without a muzzle, barely looking at people and dogs let alone reacting to them. He is now a calm dog who listens and lets us be in charge. He’s a completely new dog. There’s still work to go, but knowing what we’ve achieved with Sally in a few sessions, I have no doubt he has plenty more positive change to come.
If you’re unsure or have used behaviourists before without luck, then please just call Sally… do it today!
