Elvis the Sprocker Spaniel

Elvis the Sprocker Spaniel

I found Sally 'The Dog Whisperer' online when trying to research how to deal with our 18 month old Sprocker spaniel. Elvis had developed severe anxiety after a period of lameness and getting scared during a windy day whilst home alone. It was becoming impossible to leave him during the day or at night and he had frequent periods of frantic/manic behaviour that could not be controlled. Early advice from another behaviourist told us to reassure him and basically let him do what he wanted but it was obvious that this was encouraging the 'pantomime' of bedtime!

Sally explained to us that Elvis needed rehabilitation and so did we! After an hour and a half of talking to us, before even meeting Elvis, it became clear that it was not just his anxiety that was the problem and there were other behaviour traits that needed addressing, so we really had to go back to basics!

Sally explains things in a simple manor and brings an aura of calm to the household. By the end of the visit we had a dog who had not been crate trained, willingly get into the crate and relax. He spent his first night in the crate without incident and now chooses to go in there on his own accord. We still have a long way to go but feel confident we have the tools and support to get the happy dog he deserves to be.
