Warbie the labrador

Warbie the labrador and owner Keith

Warbie is a very affectionate 16 month old chocolate labrador and came to us as an excitable 11 month old rescue dog. Having experienced a lot of trauma in his previous life where bad habits were learnt, his introduction to our home was trauma for us: oven gloves,  towels, kitchen walls, pots of butter and every indestructible toy possible were soon polished off.

His behaviour on the lead, whilst not aggressive to others, was boisterous. He pulled and used the lead as a toy clamping onto it and not letting go so exercising him was difficult. We consulted books, magazines and the internet and decided upon using a halti collar. It partially corrected his enthusiasm but the enjoyment in having a dog was always tinged with uncertainty.

Whilst out walking one day a very nice lady recommended Sally. Upon reaching home, we looked at the website and called Sally.

Initially progress was slow, but there were always signs of improvement. The halti was disposed of and now he walks off lead and is showing respect to other dogs and people. Warbie has never lost his affectionate side and he loves lots of cuddles. He is a lovely companion. His behaviour at home has also improved. We hope to be able to teach him to repair the damaged walls!

Recently, we were inundated with compliments from other walkers who had noticed him pulling and jumping previously but now laying down politely ignoring passers-by.

Sally has said that we are truly in the thick of the woods with him on our journey through what once seemed an impenetrable jungle at one stage. The forest actually seems to have beams of light shining through and although our journey is not over we can see a clearer path to the other side.

We took Warbie on and refuse to fail him and ensuring he is well behaved and sociable will go a long way to us having a long and happy life with him. He deserves success.
